Finding Strength in Faith

I learned to cultivate my faith over the years. Having faith was a challenge for me. You either have faith or fear. You can’t have both.

I was a single parent of two young sons in my late 20s. The city I lived in offered little, if any, opportunity for growth. There was a lack of opportunity for Black individuals, no economic mobility, and the educational system was underdeveloped. I had a decent support system in that city; however, I knew that I needed to be somewhere where my children and I could truly thrive. Eventually, I decided to relocate to a larger metropolitan area that offered everything we needed. Although I did not have a support system there, I knew deep down that I needed a change. I had to leave my past and my current situation behind and push forward into something new. Despite my fear, I relocated anyway. I did it in faith!

The relocation drove me to cultivate my faith. I discovered my strength through my faith. There were many nights when it was just my sons and me. I had few true friends in the city, no backup at home, no sitter if needed, no outlet, and no one to depend on. Building faith in your strength takes time. Be patient with yourself and practice self-awareness and self-care. Reflect on your values, learn continuously, celebrate progress, embrace challenges, seek support, practice positive affirmations, and build resilience.

If you want to live out your destiny or purpose, you have to take action, even if you're scared. You can't hold on to both faith and fear simultaneously; you can only have one or the other. If you find that you have fear, then proceed with courage anyway!

You need to have the same assurance and anticipation that you have when you are already confident that your birthday or celebration is going to be great!

Consider how much better your life would be if you have faith without fear. Consider Finding Strength in Fatih!

Scripture: Hebrews 11:1

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see”. (NLT).

Prayer: Lord, strengthen my faith and help me to trust in Your promises, even when I cannot see the outcome.
